Washington Area Folk Harp Society
2014 Member Applause Day

Go MAD!

Set the date on your calendars: Saturday, May 3!

It's the first annual WAFHS Go MAD (Member Applause Day)

What is this? It used to be called the student recital. Now it is open to ALL members of WAFHS, student or not, ages 5 to 95! (Older or younger OK, too!) Are you new to the harp? Have you never or rarely played in front of other people? Are you shy or nervous about playing in front of an audience? Do you just love to play for people?

Come play a tune for us and you will be appreciated with applause - guaranteed! Make mistakes when you play? - so what! We all did and still do! We will still encourage and applaud you. This is no competition, just a chance to show off what you can play, be it ever so humble. Just a chance to practice performing in the most encouraging, accepting environment possible. Doesn't matter if you've been playing four months or forty years - come play for us and receive applause! If any ensembles want to play, they are welcome, as well.

Don't want to schlep your harp? Judy Mostyn White will bring her 34-string Fisher harp, and anyone can play it. That way, if you make mistakes, we can always blame it on playing an unfamiliar harp!

If people want a harp circle after, we'll do that, too, depending on time and interest. Of course, there will be SNACKS afterward.

About a week beforehand, you should send Judy the name, composer and arranger of the tune you'd like to play, so she can prepare a program. Depending on how many people sign up, you may play up to two tunes.

Go MAD will be held at 2 pm on May 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Gaithersburg, conveniently located just two minutes from exit 10 off I-270, at 200 W Diamond Ave, Gaithersburg, MD. There is plenty of parking.

Contact Judy Mostyn White for more information.
